We do not undertake new developments in areas identified as ARC and/or areas with HCV, in accordance with the principles of applicable certification standards, using combined HCV–ARC–FPIC methodologies, as applicable.
We protect and monitor the biodiversity of species inhabiting our operational areas, and we preserve sites of High Conservation Value (HCV).
We identify land suitability and delineate fragile soil areas such as steep slopes, riverbanks, and peat soils, defining actions to prevent physical degradation.
We do not develop plantations on peat soils, regardless of their depth; where plantations on peat soils exist, we apply best agricultural practices.
For any new plantation, we apply the internal New Plantations Procedure.
We do not use fire or controlled burning to prepare future cultivation areas or to carry out plantation renewals.
We identify, prevent, and minimize the environmental impact of our operations by incorporating responsible technologies and processes that promote the rational use of resources to maximize efficiency and overall availability.
We promote soil conservation to reduce water and wind erosion; likewise, we ensure the rational use of fertilizers and the management of organic matter in soils.
We implement an integrated solid waste and residue management plan (reduce, recycle, reuse, and responsible final disposal).
We periodically calculate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and implement actions for their progressive reduction, incorporating mitigation practices and technologies in accordance with our operational and financial capabilities.
We improve efficiency in the use of fossil fuels and promote the use of renewable energy.
We ensure the efficient, rational, and responsible use of water resources.
We guarantee that water generated from production processes is properly treated and complies with applicable local regulations.
The use of pesticides is carried out within the framework of an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) plan, promoting the reduction of pesticide use in accordance with the plantation’s conditions and capabilities.
We do not use pesticides classified as Type 1A or 1B by the World Health Organization, those listed under the Stockholm and Rotterdam Conventions, or paraquat, except in cases verified through due diligence or as permitted under government provisions in response to pest outbreaks.
